Becks, granted I was just a wee child when this happened, but why is Bob wearing white makeup? Other than being whacked out of his mind, I mean. :)

I got on YouTube to try to figure out how to link video at my blog: does it mean I'm really stupid if it confused me? If it does, don't tell me. I'll already know!

Still partial to "Like a Rollin' Stone" and anything from the Traveling Wilburys when it comes to Dylan.

'Course the clown face may be altering my judgement on this one!

How does one explain Bob Dylan? You've asked something that is pretty much impossible to answer. I think Dylan's mysterious nature is pretty much something that he has worked very hard to cultivate over the years and I'm not going to attempt to try.

So, what ABOUT the white face? I guess I might also ask why did KISS wear it? Why do clowns wear it? Why do mimes wear it? It's all the same, methinks. It just adds to the whole mystique.

But I can tell you that I chose this clip for a couple of reasons:

First, I attended the Plymouth, Mass. concert of the "Rolling Thunder Revue", a series of concerts like this one. I was a college student at the time and thought I had better see Dylan right then because if I didn't I might never have the chance to see him EVER again. Little did I know that Bob would go on to practically LIVE on the road for the next 30 years. :)

Second, I tend to think of Bob as an aloof performer, generally speaking. He doesn't talk to the audience, he doesn't feed off other people. He's not particularly dramatic. But in this clip, he's as charged up as I've ever seen him. It is ELECTRIC. He is at the top of his game and it almost scares the guy playing guitar behind him.

My husband is a much better person to ask about Dylan as he's one of Bobbers' very favorite writers and performers. I appear to have caught the fever over the years, so it seems, eh?

becks, I've always admired Dylan as a songwriter and like several of his songs. Never been a big fan of his as a performer, which is strange since I love Tom Petty. So it's not his voice that bothers me.

It may be what you said about him being somewhat aloof, and I never put my finger on it.

Either way, you getting to see Dylan at this time? Very cool.

Mimes are AWESOME.

This is a pretty dynamic performance from old Bob, never seen him this animated! Great songwriter, though I find him impossible to listen to these days, sadly. I have my own "Bob" to thank for introducing me to his catalog. :)

HS! I bow to your superior concert! However, when I saw Dylan in '75 in Plymouth there were probably no more than 1,000 people in the audience. So at least I have THAT on you!
