I came of age just before Janis died, without knowing how much of a trailblazer she was. I didn't question the fact that there were so few women in rock and roll who were able to stand on a stage and rip your heart out - along with her own.
Janis is an American treasure.

Janis Joplin was the standard bearer for women in rock.
Nice choice, Becks.
Janis is a Texas Treasure. I met her sister at an art show here. She was showing some of Janis' art that she did when she was younger and growing up before she became a star. She F'ing Rocks

I wasn't old enough to be aware of Janis when she was alive. Growing up, I wanted to be here (and quite often wore my hair the exact way she did).
I still give off the Janis vibe when the spirit moves me.
Remarkable choice, Becks, thanks!
