Becks, I was pretty surprised when I saw your link on facebook this morning about Powell endorsing Obama. Talk about a huge blow to the Republican's chances. Good for him for taking a stand vs. his own party.

I do believe the GOP has finally sunk as low as they possibly can. Yeah, I worry about the Democrats screwing things up if they run the government alone. But I also think things couldn't get much worse, could they? Two wars, an economic crisis not seen since 1929, a budget deficit of enormous proportions, entire cities being lost due to hurricanes, crumbling infrastructure. There's no doubt we need change. Barack came along at just the right time with just the right message. He's going to need a lot of help and patience while he fixes the damage. But I think he's up to the challenge.

Thanks for posting this - I missed it live. I've always had a huge amount of respect for Powell, and this reinforces it for me.

Obama is about as much of a Socialist as Tony Blair.

I hope Powell's endorsement is the final nail in Grandpa's coffin. (Oh, wait he's not dead yet?)

Is my hazy memory telling me Powell might have been an independent after he left he service?

Standing up for your own beliefs despite it may not be the popular thing to do...IS the Sign of a good leader. Powell is a good leader...and is choosing the right man finally.

Nope, John, Powell has always been Republican. But if news accounts today are to be believed, they may have thrown him out of the GOP.

We'll take him.
