I can't describe the feeling I had when I was in The Continental Club and finally standing a few feet from Alejandro after following him closely for SO long. I can't remember the last time I felt such genuine emotional excitement - maybe seeing John Dee Graham the following night in the same club, Lucinda's [Essence tour] band live, Robert Hunter, Emmylou Harris - Lowell George - or the Rolling Stones first tour when nobody knew who they were. I didn't know I could still be that overwhelmed.
I'm not sure Alejandro had ever experienced anything like a Springsteen crowd in size or energy - you can see the excitement in his face and he's definitely rising to the occasion and riding the wave for all its worth. I felt like a proud papa when I saw this video after the show - seeing him get a dose of the wider recognition he's deserved for so long.
This video is included in Bruce's excellent new Magic Tour Highlights CD/DVD - nice to see Bruce still taking Alejandro along for the ride and sharing the wealth ! WIN / WIN ! !
I owe TEX more than I can repay for making this dream a reality - Thanks !!
