A Veteran's Tale

With all the happiness and relief brought about by Tuesday's election results, I was truly brought back down to earth by a veterans' tale I saw on CNN today. It moved me more than anything I've seen in a while, but I think it's critical for all of us to recognize the sacrifices of our young'uns serving in Iraq.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this very special young man after you've seen the video.

I saw that last night while I was trying to fall asleep.

I feel like it's a terrible waste of his life. That's not to say his life was a waste, but that it was wasted in this war for nothing.

Laura, did you catch the interview with his family? I must have seen the same version you did last night, and they added a live interview with his mom, dad and a few siblings. They didn't know whether to be happy or sad, but they sure were proud!

Strength.Honor.

No, I don't remember seeing that, but think I turned my back on the tv in a vain attempt to fall asleep. CNN usually helps in that regard, but not lately.

Last night they had on a show called *combat hospital* or some such - equally disturbing.

I suppose he died doing something he believed in and his family should be proud that they raised a son who was willing to put his life down for his beliefs. I don't know that I've heard a soldier speaking against it, so I feel like there must be something I'm missing, some perspective I don't see.
